From Our President

Happy New Year!

It is my pleasure to write my first newsletter article as your President for 2006.  I'm so excited about this opportunity to be more involved with the Guild.   I have never held this position in a quilt guild and will need your gentle guidance and support.

I never make New Year's Resolutions, as I believe that every day is a good day to make a new start.   Let's take that steo today.

I have heard rumblings of dissatisfaction within the Guild.  I have heard of members dropping out due to disappointments and hurt feelings.  I would like to challenge each and every member, myself included, to reach out to a previous or current member that has lost touch with the Guild.   Please make that call to encourage another quilter to join us at January's meeting.

In January, I'll head to Road to California, in Ontario, with my sisters and my quilting buddy.  This is our 6th year.  We stay at the Double Tree for four days and have a blast.   If you're planning to be in Ontario that weekend, let's get together.

 Program

January Program

Ann Turley will be our speaker in January.  Ann made her first quilt in 1991, but has sewn and crafted most of her life.  Ann has developed several informative programs aimed at quilt guilds and other women's groups that combine her life experiences with quilting plus she teaches classes from basics to innovative piecing techniques.

Her lecture topic is *Confession of the Quilt Police”.  She will help us understand the judging process and help us gain the knowledge to make prize winning quilts.

See the WORKSHOPS article for a special announcement about the Billie Lauder workshop in June!

Round Robin

We would like to start a round robin in February. You bring material and a focus block, and list some of your preferences.  Each month you work on someone else's project while others work on yours. The final results (a top usually, although I got a vest once) is returned in June at the block auction.

Be sure to include some fabrics you would enjoy being used in your quilt.

We need to know how many guild members would like to participate.

Please find one of us at the meeting, or leave a message at one of the phone numbers listed below. Leave your name and indicate your interest in joining our 2006 Round Robin.

Thank you.

Fat Quarter Exchange

Barbara Montejo won all the December Fat quarters featuring toys.

Next month's theme is "My Favorite Things"

You are free to interpret. It might be a fat quarter conversation print depicting anything, you might favor a certain color, stripe, stars, or reproduction fabric. Do you have a favorite designer? We'll be happy to have them and you might win. These are great stash builders too.

In February we will be asking for Love and Romance.

Caryl Jo and Cherie.

Block of the Month

Millie Ballace was the lucky winner of the December Block of the Month entries. Congratulations, Mille.

The block for February is a classic block which uses both white and valentine fabric.

If you have any questions please feel free to give me a call.
