From Our President

Our November meeting just proves once again that we have great talent right here in our own guild! Thank you so much, Linda.

Dan and I had the perfect trip to the Mediterranean! If you imagine everything wonderful about Italy and Greece…well, that’s exactly how it was! The ship had engine problems, so I missed the Quilt Show in Florence. No problem, I saved all that money for Pincushion Boutique next month!

Thank you to everyone that has served on our board this year. We have had a lot of fun. As you read this, please think of ways, even small ones, which you can pitch in to help your guild.

We need some ladies to help with the hospitality. Maybe a mini-group could take this on for a few months, then another could take over to finish off the year. What do you think? Please don’t be shy…every helping hand is greatly appreciated.

Please feel free to join us at the Board Meeting at 7:30pm on the third Thursday of each month. (We start at Starbucks by Lowe’s at 7pm then move to the church at 7:30.) It’s your guild and we want to know your thoughts on our future.

Our Guild is only as strong as it’s members. I challenge you to each bring a friend, quilter or not-yet quilter, to the next meeting.

See you at the Holiday Party!

Kris

 Program

December Program

Again this year Merrilyn Lee and her friends will take charge of our Holiday Party.

Dinner will start at 7 PM

If your last name starts with A thru K please bring a dessert.  Last names from L thru Z please bring a salad or side dish. The guild will supply Ham, Turkey and the drinks.

If you won't be at the dinner please call Merrilyn at home (her number is in the directory) and leave a message on the machine.  This way we know how much food we will have.

If you plan to join the gift exchange please bring a $10 to $12 gift.  If you have a new item to donate for the raffle please bring that with you too.

If that isn't enough, Beth Murphy, the owner of Pincushion will be there.  She is renowned for those wonderful "sweet treats" packets of fat quarters.

Looking forward to seeing you December 14th. Set-up for the party will be at 6PM if you are able to help please come early.

Fat Quarter Exchange

Fat Quarters

Congratulations to Yvonne, who won a stash of fat quarter geometric prints. December's theme is music. Now traditionally, this could be printed music and composers, or artists. Instruments are good. So is Kokopelli. But what is music to Your ears? Maybe the song of a bird? a baby ? Elvis ? maybe a choir ? cd ? the whirr of your sewing machine ? the sound of raindrops? coffee perking?

This the final exchange of fat quarters for the Friday Friends. We wish to thank all the participants and are most grateful to our dedicated editor, Susie Bakman (what a year !)

So we sing your praises and wish all very happy holidays. Shalom.

Block of the Month

Block of the Month

Mille Ballace was the lucky winner again of the blocks at the November meeting.

Congratulations Millie, those blue and white blocks will make a lovely quilt.

The block for January is a really striking block and will look lovely when several are put together.  See you at the Holiday meeting with your 3 piece blocks.

Guide Dog Quilt Blocks

Guide Dog Quilt Blocks

Now that the holidays are upon us, I am hoping that you have been able to find time in your schedules to make blocks for this coming year’s donation to the Guide Dogs of American fund raising quilt.

I have received a number of blocks that are really beautiful, but we still need more!  Please remember we are going for a spring theme with the emphasis on puppies.  We are looking for 12 ½” unfinished blocks.  If you have the perfect pattern, but it is a different size, we’ll figure out how to include it.  Please bring blocks to the December meeting so we can begin assembly.  We need a few months for quilting and want to deliver it before their May open house.  Thanks to everyone who is taking time for this!
