Melissa Nilsen led this year’s 2024 opportunity quilt. She wanted something more colorful and eye catching, and found a sparkly purple fabric at Rye Canyon Supply to use for the background. We had received a large donation of Kaffe Fassett fabrics, so those were used for the borders and flowers. The pieced border blocks were sewn by members from kits handed out at our guild meetings. The flowers were made in smaller mini-groups led by Melissa. It was quilted by Joyce Wilkinson

Melissa Nilsen led this year’s 2022 opportunity quilt. Melissa loves Kaleidoscope quilts! She says: “It's a single block, and yet there are so many designs you can make just by how you place the colors. I was inspired by several Kaleidoscope quilts I saw on Instagram that all looked so different. I used my EQ8 software to design this quilt and plan the color placement. I like how circles form out of straight-edged pieces, and how secondary patterns form as your focus changes.” We used mostly batiks that we had in storage. Pieced blocks were done by: Joan Anderson, Carol Carter, Jean Carter, Marcia Dains, Melissa Nilsen, and Darlene Stump. Gabrielle sewed on the sleeve and label. Donated quilting and binding done by Donna Chipperfield.
